our purpose
APEC is an organization targeted towards empowering Asian Pacific communities.
We work towards community empowerment by creating spaces to learn about present and historical issues in the context of our people and working as a collective to create a safe, informed, and welcoming space.

Four Points of Unity

creating Safe, Informed Community
Our three Community Liaisons, specializing in LGBTQIA+ issues, mental health, and disability & accessibility, ensure all of our programming is safe, welcoming, and competent to diverse communities. We host weekly Community Hours on Tuesdays and other various programming within these areas and more generally to create familiarity among our members and our leadership.

Learning our histories to write our futures
Our Workshop Director, Cultural Accountability Officer, Graphics Designers, and Media and Content Directors help us represent our communities’ histories and document our own as it unfolds. Our work in this point of unity revolves around historical education through workshops and social media posts, which we ensure contains well-researched information.

AAPI empowerment, leadership, and advocacy
Our Leadership Development Facilitator and Advocacy & Action Organizer champion this pillar. Through our Leadership Development Facilitator, we provide professional and academic development opportunities, including workshops and connections to professional programs. Our Advocacy & Action Organizer leads our participation in advocacy campaigns and efforts on campus and in collaboration with various organizations for the empowerment of our communities.

Solidarity Always
Our Internal and External Relations Representatives cultivate our relationship with other community organizations, ensuring we can provide support to them where needed and vice versa. Through these connections, we provide volunteering and lobbying opportunities and participate in various campaigns and programs hosted by external and internal partners.
